John Gets His Collar!
Here is a walkthrough of the first chapter of my visual
novel about John and Susan. Nothing very dramatic happens, but it moves the
story on along lines that I originally planned a number of years ago. I have
lots of ideas for the next chapter, which describes the "encounter"
between Susan and Sebastian!
Incidentally, in the
current episode, I've included sound effects from a couple of old movies. I
wonder if anyone can identify them.
Regards,
Lamivex.

It's Been A While...
Hello everyone! It's been a while. This is a quick post to let you know that (despite appearances) I haven't abandoned this blog. What's more, after a period when I really didn’t feel motivated to do any LLP stuff, I believe my interest has (largely) returned.
I've come to realize that the "John and Susan" narrative just isn't going to happen as CG animations, because that would be far too much work. So instead, I'm going to continue it as a visual novel. However, rather than trying to work within the limitations of running everything in a web browser, I'm going to do it as a downloadable game. Nevertheless, I'll upload walkthroughs as YouTube videos (these are very easy to create with the virtual novel software that I’m using), so people still have access to the story online.
Stay tuned.

A New Visual Novel Engine
I’ve thought for some time that the visual (or kinetic)
novel is a good format for the kind of stuff I want to produce, and even wrote
my own “kinetic novel engine” because the visual novel engines available at the
time didn’t really offer all the features I wanted. That allowed me to create
the end product that I wanted, but was too cumbersome to use easily. However,
a new software has recently become available which is very advanced, flexible, and
user friendly, and can export to HTML5 (that is, its visual novels can be
played online in web browsers).
Using this software, I resurrected “The Workout”, which I’d
planned as just a series of still pictures but had then abandoned about halfway
through. I think other projects would also work well (and actually take less
effort) in this format. They don’t necessarily have to be as long as “The
Workout”; some could be just short skits, etc. (but perhaps with slightly more
user interaction or animation).

I Don’t Know What’s Going On Either…
This post is
just to thank the people who have been leaving comments since my last post,
especially ‘MadeToComply’. I have to tell you that I’m not working on anything
at the moment, and haven’t been for a number of weeks.
All I can say
is that psychologically I seem to have undergone a change away from sedentary interests,
and towards exercise and outdoor pursuits. In my present state, I really can’t
summon any enthusiasm for sitting down in front of a PC to produce artwork (or
anything else). I don’t know why it’s happened, but it’s almost like an allergy.
All I know is that, for now at least, I’m having to take an extended break from
my blog activities. It really doesn’t feel like I have a choice.
I’m sorry to
have to disappoint people. Maybe I’ll come back to LLP after a while. But for
now, I’m afraid it’s on ice.
Sincere
regards.
