This is my first post in a while, mainly because of real-world work taking up a lot of my time over the past few months (although that's now finished). However, I've got a number of story projects in progress – in fact, perhaps too many! I start doing one thing, then get distracted by a new idea, and start doing that!
Anyway, this little story grew out of a doodle I began doing in Krita (which is a raster rather than vector graphics editor). I kept the art deliberately rough and ready (especially on the first page) in order to produce it relatively quickly. But I really enjoyed working in this style, rather than making everything smooth and clean. I think this rougher approach retains more spontaneity, and I can get the picture done while the idea behind it is still fresh and (ahem) "exciting" in my head.
Incidentally, as a general observation, I think it's true (in my experience at least) that the cleanest, most technically accomplished illustrations don't necessarily make the most sexually exciting artwork*.
Anyway, I'd definitely like to produce more stuff in this style. It might be especially good for more incidental illustrations that just move the narrative along.
*As a particularly extreme example, a guy called "TJ Ryder" comes to mind. He mainly wrote text-only interracial cuckold stories, but also did some illustrations. These are not technically the best—in fact, I personally find them very ugly—but they do seem to have a kind of raw, cartoony power (especially the black and white ones) that other, better illustrations may lack. Just do an image search on "TJ Ryder cuckold B&W art" to see a few examples. Of course, your perception could be completely different! 😊
